Blast from the Past - Primary Science Fair

The primary science fair is a bi-annual event organised by the science centre as part of the Singapore Youth Science Festival.

The fair is non-competitive, but the organisers selects about 30 projects to be awarded the Merit Award. Since the school started in 2000, we have participated in 3 primary science fairs and have obtained merit awards for our projects every time.

In 2001, our merit award was for a project titled "Aquaponics Model". In 2003, "The Physics of Projectile Motion" got us the award. In 2005, we had 2 merit awards, one for a yo-yo project called "Yo ! Yo ! Yo!" and another one for a project called "The Bed of Nails"

Our 2 booths at the 2005 fair

Our yo-yo project, which investigated how long the yo-yo can spin with different string length and materials of axles.

Our yo-yo team. These pupils graduated from the school last year.

The bed of nails team. They investigated how pressure changes with increased surface area.

Our 2 Merit Awards in 2005

Our 2003 team with the Merit Award. They used a rocket toy to investigate projectile motion.

Though there is no primary science fair this year, we look forward to next year's participation and we hope to win the award again.
