Simple Machines

The P5s are currently studying the topic of simple machines. In this unit, they learn 5 types of simple machines, namely the lever, inclined plane, pulley, wheel and axle and gears.

Here are some pictures of some P5 pupils investigating simple machines.

Levers. Investigating how distance between load and fulcrum influences effort needed.

Inclined plane. Investigating whether a longer or shorter inclined plane reduces more effort.

Pulleys. Here they are trying out a pulley system, or block and tackle.
