Learning about adaptation

The P6 are currently learning about adaptations.

Here, the pupils are learning about the adaptations of the water lettuce to an aquatic habitat. Yep, that is a handphone camera in the picture. This pupil wanted to take a photo of the water lettuce !

Using a dropper, the pupils put drops of water on the leaves of the water lettuce. Naturally, all the water rolled off the surface. This is because the water lettuce has tiny hairs on the surface of its leaves.

The pupils also tried to 'sink' the water lettuce, but it always manages to float once they released it.

That's why the water lettuce is adapted for an aquatic habitat.
